This photo was shot with a Nikon D90 camera with a 50mm f1.8 nikon lens and set of extension tubes. The bumblebee was so preoccupied with gathering pollen that he let me take as many photos as I wanted. At full resolution you can make out a nice dusting of pollen in his fur. It was interesting how this bee would tuck his wings back and out of the way while searching for pollen.
I started this site to have a place for nature photography and writings on nature and natural phenomena. I usually code most of my sites by hand but I’ve found that if I use a platform I can devote more time to simply writing. This first photo of the site was taken with a Nikon 300mm f4 lens and set of extension tubes. I’m particularly interested in the green eyes of this bumblebee. Most compound eyes I’ve seen are just black. These eyes have intricate green patterns. It’s beautiful.
